July 30th, 2009Not Skittle Away

I’m not really much of a candy person - NOW that is, but maybe when I was a kid, I was. *smiles*

But since I have a toddler at home, I’ve learned how useful candies can be -when teaching.  Yup, candies helps me teach my kid to  count, to identify colors and shapes.  Trust me, I make sure not to overdo it (I’m not ready to make a dentist trip with my son yet. )  But so helpful are they that I’m always trying things out, or brands should I say.

And the latest find is… okay before that, check out these  Tennessee injury lawyers online. Okay where was I? Oh my latest find…is… no other than… SKITTLES. Good old Skittles!  Oh yeah. Among the 3 variants available in our grocery namely the Original, Wild Berry and Tropical, it’s the latter that I like most. Except for the Melon Berry and Berry Punch, the candies in the Wild Berry  pack is not really to my tastebuds’ liking. The Original pack also is not really for me. The Tropical pack  however is another story. I truly love ALL of the flavor mixes of the candies in the pack - not to mention how neat their colors are.

But like other sweets,  I can only have so much Skittles. I can only take as much as 5  candies in one sitting, otherwise, I get a sore throat. ( That’s why I always have a soft spot for sour candies!)

July 26th, 2009Loving VLC

Been using the VLC - sounds like a pill but okay, that’s not a new brand of weight loss pills but a media player lol - for quite sometime and I’ve always been satisfied with its performance. Developed by VideoLAN (thanks guys!), this open-source software may also be used as a media converter and as well as player.  It’s amazingly versatile and it is the software I am using to play my .flv audio files which I have downloaded from Imeem (as mentioned in this post).

And not only does it support numerous  video and audio formats - like really, what can it not support? - but most of all, it is a free software. To download it, just visit this link.

July 24th, 2009I’m-Eeempressed!

For music streaming, there’s nothing like IMEEM.com.  It’s free. It’s fast. And most of all, it’s HUGE. Its archive looks like it contains all the songs in the Universe. Really, no kidding - all genres and artists!

And today, I found out that we can download songs right from Imeem. Just install the free Music Zilla and you’re good to go. The downloaded files are in .flv format though but I have a handy player for this format and I couldn’t be happier.

For more instructions on how to do it, hop in here.

Do you have a kid or baby at home? Other than classical music and lullabies, you might want to widen the option of music he listens to, to include Bible songs. Here’s s CD for that. Photobucket

This also introduce the Bible - popular stories and characters from the Bible- in a very fun way. Actually, no day passes by without us listening to this CD! My son immensely enjoys listening to the stories and the songs in it. He actually refers to it as the “Jesus teaching in the Temple” CD.

Few stories in it are: Adam & Eve; Jesus Raising Lazarus from the Dead; Noah’ Ark; Jesus and the Sinful Woman and so much more

The CD includes the ff songs: Jesus Loves Me; I’m In The Lord’s Arm; Be Careful Little Eyes What You See; Head And Shoulders, Knees And Toes; Noah’s Arky, Arky; Count Your Blessings; For God So Loved The World.

BTW,  for rv-ers, if you want total protection for your vehicle, you may avail an rv warranty at the preceding link provided.

July 22nd, 2009Shine-Free

I have oily facial skin and it’s always a struggle to keep it shine-free.  As I never liked using loose powder, I tried using foundation to keep the shimmer off my face. It’s actually works but the only setback is I needed to apply it again and again. And sometimes, I never have enough time to do that-especially if we have a busy day in the office (I could barely eat lunch on a very busy day!).

But good thing is I found a great oil-blotting paper to quickly fix that unsightly shine. But before telling  you my quik fix to my problem, check this Outer Banks rentals for finest beach homes. Now, my trusted to buddy to keep my face shine-free in just seconds is the GATSBY Powdered Oil Clear Paper. It works in 2 ways: it absorbs excess oil from the skin and it  lightly powders the face.  So what more can you ask for?

Before I get to my review, please check this site that offers home alarms. Okay that taken cared of, I’ll proceed.

Rainy days are here in my country and in times like this, there is no better weapon against common rainy day illnesses than a good measure of prevention.

To do that, here are a couple of steps that, in my humble opinion,  are essential to maintaining good health:

1) Observing good hygiene at all times. Wash hands always.

2) Strengthen the immune system by getting enough rest and proper nutrition.

Moreover, since flu and colds are some of the common illnesses, it’s also good to arm ourselves with practical information to prevent these illnesses. A great book I recently bought that I find very useful is Dr Neil Schachter’s book: A Good Doctors Guide to Colds and Flu. It is readable and contains helpful and practical tips to help us prevent and manage respiratory illnesses such as common colds and flu.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Red Ribbon goodies.  I am. Because they are just simply delectable. Actually, I never exit from the mall without dropping by their outlet.  Give me all the exit signs in the world but I never do so -not until I pick goodies from them. It’s a habit already.

But on my mom’s birthday I get to taste something heavenly from another bakeshop. My brother and his fiancee brought home a box of chocolate cake, which its name I name I have carelessly forgotten- sorry! Nonetheless, here’s a picture of that cake.

Help yourself! But really, go treat yourself to some heavenly goodness and bring home a box if you have a Goldilocks branch in your place. Ah okay, I’ll have to ask my for its name next time.

July 12th, 2009Yummmm-eeeeY

Red Ribbon.

On the hair? No.

On the old oak tree? No -although I prefer a red over the famous yellow ribbon on the old oak tree. *Chuckle*

Red ribbon on the dress then? *frowning and shaking head vigorously* No! No definitely not.

I say, Red Ribbon in the tummy. The whaaat?

Yes, the tummy. Red Ribbon goodies for MY tummy. Soooo sooo love them.

From their Chocolate Mousse cake to their pansit palabok,  Mango bars to their cinnamon roll. Empanada to  their delectable mocha mamon. Yum, Yum.

I totally love all the food from Red Ribbon. Actually, my family loves their food. Hubby hearts their cakes. My son loves their regular mamon and their mango bars. Yummm, they’re the best!

July 9th, 2009Spa in a Bottle (Part1)

If a genie appears to me and gets me one wish now, I wish that I could be in an rv camping vacation now. As in NOW na, and not a  moment longer. I’ve seen a camping trip in a trailer on TV a couple of days back and it sure looks like fun and exciting way to chill out. Imagine to be able to bring the comforts of home with you in a vacation. Lovely, lovely thing!

But a genie is yet to show his head while I’m here in the office. So I’ll just write a review post instead *smile* I guess the easiest subject I have now is this thing just beside my monitor. It’s a bottle of the Spa Wisdom Hydration Creme from The Body Shop. Made with shea butter from Ghana and honey from Zambia, this sure is a great moisturizer for the hands and feet. Actually, among the many hand/feet lotions that I’ve tried, this one is my favorite because it is not icky greasy. It is so light that you’ll immediately feel its soft effect on the skin. I also love it’s mild scent.

Cost-wise, I believe that you’ll get your money’s worth for every 125 ml bottler of the Spa Wisdom (Africa honey butter for hands and feet).   What more, you get to experience the spa feel anytime and anywhere with the Spa Wisdom hand and feet creme.

July 5th, 2009Pearly Skin by Olay

I honestly have no particular thing to review today. Actually, I wanted to do a review about a bakeshop but I haven’t processed the picture that will go with it…so I’m kinda stumped. And sleepy.  I’ve been thinking of sleep since I first sat on this chair! So while browsing a site that offers pearl jewelry I thought, sleep I will have to do in the next few minutes and I will have to do my Olay routine before doing that.

Ah Olay. I did think Olay. So I guess that will have to be the topic of this post. Aside from their soap and body wash, my skin loves Olay Total Effects Normal. It’s been a part of my nighttime routine for a couple of months now. With SPF15, it can be used during daytime too (although I much prefer to put it on at night).

And I hope it’s not just my imagination *lol* but I feel it’s making my skin smoother and finer.  I just can’t be too sure if it’s really effective on the wrinkles because I still don’t have that (I hope!) at the moment. But it does seem to work on my moisturizing and keeping my skin zit-free. Plus, plus it’s affordable. And  then  here’s the part that amazes me. I really don’t know why but unlike the Gentle variant which terribly makes my head ache because of its smell, the Normal variant doesn’t bother me that much.
