March 30th, 2010Gee-Mee-L

Gmail. Yahoo. Hotmail. Rocketmail.  What free internet mail provider are you using?

Me, I used to have a Hotmail but I relinquished it already to my sister. I also had a Yahoo email but I rarely use this because it’s just not “me.” Then, I get so much spam mails there. *sigh*

So this leaves me with a Gmail inbox, which I use all the time. I am an avid Gmail-er because I think their email features totally rock. Now how about you? Wanna find out what I’m talking about? Sign up now and also read the Gmailblog.

March 17th, 2010Bye, Bye Imeem

Not too long ago, I have  posted a quick review on  how much I love Imeem. I was already impressed because I can easily download some songs on my playlist through MusicZilla.  But with MySpace absorbing Imeem, I found out I could no longer access the site. I actually tried accessing the site a couple of weeks ago and I felt bad that I could no longer see the imeem site nor login to my account (through MySpace).

I’ve read online though that there are users who received email advisory that they can restore their old Imeem playlist through MySpace. Good for them who were able to restore their playlist. As for me, I haven’t seen any notification of this nature. Also, the bigger prob is I could not login to MySpace using Imeem old username and password. I don’t have a Myspace account too (and don’t intend to have one). So even if there’s the merge service, I still cannot use it. Bye Imeem! :-(

Now moving on, are you familiar with colon cleansing? I have read about its benefits and there have been lots of available colon cleansers now. Still, I have to find a thorough article that presents their pros and cons. I’m off now to scour the internet for some information.

Happy weekend everyone!

February 15th, 2010Not a Single Penny

Photobucket This wireless keyboard is worth $99.95 in the IOGEAR website. But we got this all for F-R-E-E. Wooohooo! That’s right, I didn’t shell a single penny for this device, thanks to my sister AJ.

She received it as a company give-away and she gave it to us. Bless her generous heart. *smile*

Now what do I think about the device. It’s cool.  I  am still trying to get used to the trackball-button click combination but I am loving the fact that I can be on my bed and still type something (y’know, make a post or write email) on the PC. Oh well, having a netbook or PDA will let you work on bed but having this one is different. Think FREEDOM.  As my son said, it’s like having a remote control of your monitor. Really a perfect solution to get some things done even if you’re away from the table or away from the screen. If you are someone who loves to play games in the PC, and who got a big monitor, then I know you would love to have this.

That said, before I go and search for acne solutions, let me finish this post by saying that having this multimedia wireless keyboard, which comes with a USB pair,  makes me really want for an iMac. BADLY. I know it would be the perfect tandem.

February 10th, 2010On AVG Now

I’ve switched to AVG Anti-virus. Like a good anti aging product, I feel better with it. I feel more secured and more protected  and I’m sure my PC feels it too.

So secured am I that everyime a notification about a certain threat/virus  pops up, I actually smile.

My husband previously installed avast on my desktop but since I’ve used AVG on my netbook and liked its performance more than the former,  I decided to make the not-too-big switch. :-)

October 3rd, 2009On Facebook

It’s 4AM where I am now and while I’m doing Facebook, I’m also viewing some kitchen sinks online. Hah, the wonders of Internet!

I’m actually still new to Facebook but I’m kinda hooked now. *slaps head* Isn’t it cool? I mean, getting connected with friends no matter which part of the world they are now -and then seeing/reading updates every now and then- while playing online games? Hmmm, great huh? Know what, I used to think Friendster is cool but FB is slowly winning my heart. =) And it isn’t because of the games because I have never played these online games. But it’s the setup that I like. I like that I can do so much while I’m on my page and all at once i.e watch videos while chatting, writing email and reading updates. But okay, that’s just me.

July 26th, 2009Loving VLC

Been using the VLC - sounds like a pill but okay, that’s not a new brand of weight loss pills but a media player lol - for quite sometime and I’ve always been satisfied with its performance. Developed by VideoLAN (thanks guys!), this open-source software may also be used as a media converter and as well as player.  It’s amazingly versatile and it is the software I am using to play my .flv audio files which I have downloaded from Imeem (as mentioned in this post).

And not only does it support numerous  video and audio formats - like really, what can it not support? - but most of all, it is a free software. To download it, just visit this link.

May 10th, 2009New Webhost

Few weeks ago, I received an email from the administrator of my webhost informing me (and the rest of their clients) that it is closing down “due to the economic downturn.”  With this our accounts will be migrated to another web hosting company, the Host Penguin. When I received the news, I was really sad - in fact, I’m still sad at this current development.  As I’ve mentioned before in this post, I’ve always been satisfied with their services (Host Prestige), especially the after-sales support.

As of presstime, our accounts  are already migrated to HostPenguin and so far everything is fine with my sites. I really hope that with the new service provider, we (clients) will still get the same quality support we got from Host Prestige.

To the peeps behind Host Prestige, thanks for your invaluable service.

April 4th, 2009WP-SpamFree It Is Then

After being bombarded with a thousand and more comments from bots EVERYDAY, which is extremely annoying -I mean imagine sifting through the mail littered with thousands of comment notifications everyday, I finally found the time to install my WP-SpamFree plugin. I’ve been meaning to do this for the longest time but was only able to sit down and install the thing now. Not I’m not saying that it takes a lot of time to install it - on the contrary, it’s so easy and simple to install and activate, and everything  takes only about a minute or two of your time. No kidding. But I’ve just been lazy to open my cPanel - is all.

ANyway, what is this plugin? It’s an anti-spam software that helps eliminate spam comments, spam pingbacks or trackbacks.

So why choose the WP-SpamFree plugin by Scott Allen among many other anti-spam plugins?  Oh well, I’ve been using it for my other 2 Wordpress-powered sites so I already know how it works.   Tested and proven, really.  That being said, I’m confident that it will do its job effectively. Secondly, I like tits no-CAPTCHA feature thus saving commenters the time to go through the word verification thing.  To read more about its awesome features, just hop in here.

And if you’re bothered with spam comments and wanted to download the latest plugin version, get it from here.

And  (auto) bots, have a lovely day y’all! :-)

February 8th, 2009My Webhost

I’ve been meaning to write a review of my webhost for so long already but life’s priorities have to put everything in a backseat.

So this is long overdue.
Photobucket

One word for my webhosting provider. Efficient.

They have got to be because to date, I have not encountered any problem with them. Not at all.

The loading of my sites I have with them goes smoothly. If I have any technical difficulty (but that’s always user-related, *smile* I must add), I can always count on them (or my technical support to help me out). And to think that for a customized plan (yeah, you can customized your plan to suit your needs!) of 500MB space and 12.5GB monthly bandwidth transfer, I’m only paying $29.70 annually.

So this would be a free plug for them - for the peeps in Host Prestige, keep it up. And thanks for the great service.
