January 8th, 2010All For Glass

I just bought a set of Visions cookware, which we have already started using at home, and it seems like they are really made of high quality materials just like what the reviews of the product which I’ve read online said.

I still couldn’t make a conclusion though since I’ve just used the product in barely a month. But initially I can say I’m quite satisfied with the pots. I love cooking in transparent pots! Also, the set I got comes with  plastic covers for the pots aside from their Pyrex lids so I can safely store some food and put them in the fridge.

So glass, check. Now I’ll see some stainless steel drums and see what I can do with them. ;-)

September 3rd, 2009Why I Switched

Besides SC Johnsons’s Fantastik, I have also tried using Mr. Muscle Cleaners (Bathroom, Kitchen Cleaners). In fact, among the cleaners I’ve tried before, they are  actually the ones that I like using and I have been using Mr. Muscle Cleaners for a couple of years already - although not as much as I would have liked to, due to one very important factor.

But before I get to the reason why, if in need of discount kitchen faucets, please check them out  by clicking the preceding link.

Now back to Mr Muscle Cleaners. Yes, I do like using them because they easily clean tough stains and dirt leaving the surface squeaky clean and shiny. This goes out especially for the very reliable Mr Muscle Bathroom Cleaner, which effectively eliminates molds, grime, soap scums among other dirts. If I can have my way, and since I love to clean our bathroom, I would use it every so often. Now if only if it doesn’t smell so strong. And there goes the important factor, I just couldn’t stand cleaning the bathroom with  it  because of its very powerful smell. Everytime I use it, I have to leave the bathroom for about 30 minutes and then get back to my cleaning when the smell is not too overwhelming.

And then because my son is asthmatic, I always make sure to clean the bathroom only when he is not around and then always allow some time for the smell to disperse before he can use the CR.

So when I found LOC, I’m just happy that I can clean the bathroom as much as I want to and not get worried with an overpowering smell.

September 2nd, 2009Not Too Fantastik For My Nose

I have mentioned in my previous post that I have used other cleaners before finding LOC, so today I’ve decided to pick one from the bunch to review.

And it is none other than the Fantastik Clean & Shine All Purpose Cleaner by SC Johnson.

So what made me buy it?

From the label, it was was indicated that it:

- contains no bleach or phosphates

-bottle is made of 25% post-consumer plastic

-safe for septic systems

Like the LOC, it is versatile and can be used on various surface type like chrome, tiles,  granite, marble, glass, etc… It could even be used on wood. I have also tried cleaning our desktop computers with it. IAnd yes, it effectively removes grime, cleans and shines as well. My only gripe with this product is its fragrance. True it’s indicated in the label that it has refreshing and not too powerful smell, but then my nose still likes to protest after the second spray of this product.

September 1st, 2009Look for LOC

…and   you will not regret it. :-)

Okay, if you did not get me, here’s the tale.

I was having a casual chitchat with my female officemate when this wonderful multi-purpose cleanser was mentioned to me. They have also been using it upon her sister’s advice. As relayed to me, her sister has been using it in her home since learning its effectiveness  from her inlaws. So when my officemate’s sister visited, she persuaded her family to try it.  They are now using it for their floors, furniture and as a general cleaning buddy.

When I heard all that, I was also encouraged to give this product a try. It’s called LOC, a multi-purpose cleaner from Amway.  And I’m just happy I found it -really, really happy.

You see, I must have tried about a dozen cleaning products available in leading supermarkets and  most of these are not friendly to my olfactory glands. Others are just to mild they could barely clean the bathroom. In short, I haven’t really been satisfied, especially in the scent department. But with LOC, I can be cleaning in the bathroom for hours and I will not complain - not with its smell. Because really, I could barely smell anything with it. And it cleans well! It also makes surfaces shiny.

And then because it’s a concentrated formula, I only need to use a small amount, like 30ml of it, for about 3 liter of water. So it’s really very economical. And as I’ve said earlier, it’s a multi-purpose cleaner so now I no longer need to buy another cleaner for the kitchen or the floors or our furniture. I could even use it to wash my hands. So you see, unlike other cleaner which could harm the skin, this one is mild enough to get in contact with your skin and clean it. Now what more could I ask for? Nothing. I found the perfect cleaner with LOC.

Ingredient (from label): Purified water, surfactant, fragrance

Best for: linoleum, tile, tubs, marble, cabinets, washable walls, painted woodwork, doorknobs

August 24th, 2009Last Straw Strategies

Before I get to my review, please take time to visit Blue Cross North Carolina for medical and health plans.

Books are fun. Books are great. Books are helpfuI.

How can I live without them?

My latest craze - if you can call it that- is a series of self-help books for parents called the Last Straw Strategies by Michelle Kennedy. I honestly couldn’t be more thankful for finding these great books that offer advices, tips and tricks on how to deal with babies, toddler and growing children. Each book in the series tackles on one specific problem are i.e sleeping, crying, jealousy, etc… The books are really a great source of practical advices and tips in handling kids coming from parents and grandparents.

The book I’m currently reading now is the one for manners and it’s really informative and practical. I treasure this one a lot because at the moment, I am teaching my kid about good manners to be observed at home and in public places.

November 7th, 2008Crayon Stains? No Worry

Photobucket I use to worry about crayon stains on our walls. My son sometimes likes to show his talent in decorating our walls with his original paintings. For the longest time, I’ve been using petroleum jelly to clean these.

But now I discovered a cool product that helps me clean crayon markings in a jiffy- the Scotch Brite Easy Erasing Pad. It is designed to remove scuff marks, soap scum, grease, crayon stains, etc… No need to use spray cleaners. Just wet the pad with water (make sure to squeeze excess water from it) and then wipe it. So really easy. And voila! Markings are gone in few swipes!
